HOME IN FROME came into being in 2009, after being inspired by Robert Golden’s exhibition, HOME.
1,200 Frome residents visited the Silk Mill to see the HOME exhibition which was funded by Mendip Housing. The striking black and white photographs, taken in the 1960s and ’70s, stirred memories of the visitors’ own working lives and of how much life has changed since then.
MOVING HOME was a 2010 project based on interviews with the residents of Singer’s Knoll during the Mendip Housing rebuilding scheme. All the residents had to move out of their houses before the new build. The interviews captured their thoughts and feelings on leaving their old homes, as in Eve’s Story
Illuminated models of the Singer’s Knoll houses processed in Frome Carnival.
